Hi, my name is Irit Jackson and I’m the founder of Show and Tell Imagery.
While I always had a hobbyist’s interest in photography and took pleasure in seeing great images, it wasn’t until I had a child of my own that my interest in the craft blossomed.
I started Show and Tell Imagery in 2011. I taught myself everything I could about the industry; I studied camera use, took a deep dive into lighting and spent hours on the computer teaching myself how to use photo editing packages.
Like any start-up, I fully immersed myself in the industry and then hoped like hell that I could make a business out of it.
It was hard work at first. Any entrepreneur or business owner would be lying if they told you they didn’t have doubts in the first few months. I certainly had mine. But you persist. And you keep going until the first client becomes the second, and the third and so on. Then suddenly you have a regular client base, a growing reputation and year on year growth. In early 2019, I will have opened my first studio.
Show & Tell Imagery is predominantly a family photography enterprise; although I have branched out to incorporate corporate and business prints. Through that arm of the business I have taken corporate head shots for a range of companies and professionals plying their trade in a broad spectrum of industries. I have also dabbled in travel photography for a range of business magazines.
However, it is the family photography arm of the business that still gives me the most satisfaction.
Part of the success I have had in family photography is due to my love for seeing a mother with her newborn child; there’s something precious about being able to capture the look of love and commitment a mother has for her baby, or that look of happiness mixed with nervousness that captures a first time pregnancy.
Working with newborn children, through to young adults is also very rewarding. It’s the joy and wonder in a child’s face captured for all time that means so much to the family…and to me.
Photography is now more than a hobby; it is a profession and a passion that started with one client. It has grown through hard work and the friendships forged with all the great mums who want to preserve their families’memories.
I love being there with them and to help them share those memories. I hope to do so for many years to come.
