Hi my name is Liliana Rubiano and I’m one of the co founders of the Tolu Australia brand.
My husband and I established the company together in 2013 by importing Panama Hats from Colombia.
In 2016, we decided to start importing and selling men’s swim shorts and the brand became a huge success. A year later I decided to focus on my entrepreneurial dream, so I quit my full time job to follow my passion.
Although our Tolu Australia brand is in its early days, we have successfully featured our products at 2018 events such as The Finders Keepers Sydney (Summer) 2018 and the LifeInStyle Trade Fair which has given us a lot of recognition and media exposure. We’ve also exhibited Tolu Australia products at many Market and Festival Stands throughout Australia which has given us a lot of visibility within the market place.
In 2019, we will be re-launching our collection of men swim shorts that will be made out of recycled PET bottles fabric (manufactured & designed in Colombia as well).
The men’s swim shorts are made with love from our country of origin and our plan is to offer a very unique, sustainable, high quality brand perfect for any season.
Our mission is to also develop a business that supports the manufacturing industry in Colombia to aid girls’ education through the Mala Yousafzai’s organisation: “yes all girls”.
It would be truly rewarding to support this Colombian organisation as it would mean a lot to me to make a difference and improve these girls lives by building them up.
