Hi, my name is Catherine and I have been in the makeup business for over 16 years, which has taken me around the world and I love what I do. I don’t see it as work, I eat, sleep and dream my business. My inspiration and passion for my business are inseparable as they both feed off one another. Inspiration in life comes at the weirdest times for example in the gym, going for a walk whilst listening to tunes or in the shower. This is where my best ideas come from. But inspiration needs to be fed, so I am constantly looking for ways to evolve in my industry by reading the latest trade magazines and blog articles in my field. I have subscribed to all cosmetic houses for newsletters so I’m up to date with what my competition is doing. Passion is when you know you are where you are meant to be and that’s the driving force behind me. I am fortunate to have such a wealth of knowledge and experience in the makeup/cosmetics industry. I am aware of product ingredients and where they are manufactured and understand how to apply them, play with them and sell them. I have just recently started a blog about makeup ‘sex in the city style’ to promote cosmetics as fun. Most articles in leading magazines are about the top 100 products etc but give little instructions on how to apply them. Most women walk into David Jone’s or Myer faced with those blinding white lights and approach counters and sales ladies for their makeup advice believing they are makeup artists and suddenly find they are walking home with a product they will never use and just store in their bathroom cabinets. This is why I have decided to film video tutorials on how to apply lips, smokey eyes in 5 easy steps, the perfect base etc which will be available on my website www.smmh.com.au or You tube channel shortly.
